ICZM - MedOpen.org

virtual training course on coastal management in the Mediterranean

We are starting our joint journey now. We wish you a pleasant and fruitful trip, a lot of discoveries and fun ...

If you are a Basic trainee, read carefully the Lecture 1 (out of 12 in total) and take a test - a short quiz, which  enables you to compete with the other trainees. After you have finished reading the lecture, proceed at your own pace.

To obtain the MedOpen ICZM Basic certificate the total percentage of points won in the test should not be less than 75%.

Your score will be displayed in the "score list" under the name you have selected.

You may take each test twice. After taking the test once, correct and wrong answers will be indicated. After the second trial, the test option will disappear from your page.

  • Below each question there is an indication of the total number of points you can win when answering a question.
  • For the final score, a better result will be taken into consideration.

Time counting

  • For each test your time score is being monitored. If your computer does not support the JavaScript, time will be counted by your server. You won't be able to see it, but we will get the information. If two trainees have the same score, the one with a better time will be positioned higher on the top-list.
  • Time will be monitored only during your staying on the test page. If you go back to the lecture, the time spent there won't be taken into consideration.
  • Time is calculated in the total amount, meaning the time needed for the first and the second trial is added.

If you are an Advanced trainee, your task during this three-month training course will be to carefully read 12 lectures (the Advanced materials) introduced on a weekly basis (i.e. one lecture per week), as well as the additional reading materials (i.e. scientific articles and reports). Also, you'll be requested to discuss the lecture topics at the discussion Forum. Your lecturers, who will be moderating the discussion, will introduce a couple of stimulating questions.

Starting from week 5 (in parallel with Lectures 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9), the practical Simulation Game will be developed providing you with the opportunity to experience a simulated coastal management situation and participate in finding practical sustainable solutions. All trainees will be asked to present these solutions in a jointly prepared report. The Simulation Game Forum will be used as a space for most of communications during the practical Simulation Game.
